To achieve excellence and to stand out as a eminent centre of teaching in Mathematics by offering quality Mathematics education and to make them employable, self reliant and endowed with skills of logic and reasoning giving equal importance to human values also.

To develop generations of efficient mathematics professionals by providing excellent foundation at graduate level acquiring deep knowledge and to serve the community with commitment.
Objectives
- To explore concepts and develop problem-solving skills.
- To use appropriate Mathematical concepts and skills to solve problems in both familiar and unfamiliar situations including those in real-life contexts.
- Mathematics provides a powerful and universal language.
- Equip students are expected to use Mathematical language appropriately when communicating Mathematical ideas, reasoning and findings both orally and in writing.

- Orientation and bridge course are conducted by the department staff for the freshers.
- Creative Maths Rangoli Competition, Maths Poster Presentation, Mathematical Game Fest Competition and Quiz Competition are conduced regularly through Maths club.
- Webinar, Guest Lecture, FDP are Organised for the betterment of faculty and students.
- Recreational Mathematical work is assigned to students during vacation.

Guest Speaker: Dr. M. Manoharan Topic: Statistical Tools
The Department of Mathematics of Vel Tech Ranga Sanku Arts College, Avadi, organized Maths club events in the morning session (10:00 am to 11:30 am) and Guest Lecture in the afternoon session (1:00 pm to 2:45 pm) on 21/04/2022.
The main objective of the event was to celebrate Euler’s 315th birthday. The event started by lightning the lamp by our staff members and students. The student of II B.Sc S.Madhan Kumar presented a video about how Mathematic plays a significant role in life.
We conducted three events Quiz, Poster Presentation and Rangoli. The Students of various department participated in the events. HODs & staff members acted as judges for these events.
As the events completed in the morning session, the Guest Lecture programme was conducted in the afternoon. It commenced at 1:00 pm with welcome dance. The Guest Dr.M.MANOHARAN, Assistant professor, Department of Community Medicine, SRMIST, Kattankulathur Honoured by C.Densley,Assistant professor and Head, Department of Mathematics. He has taken a lecture on the topic “Statistical Tools” for II B.Sc students. He has infused the basics of SPSS statistical tools and how it is important for students in subject as well as life. He encouraged the students to interact with him.
The Chief guest encouraged the winner of all the events conducted in the morning session of the day and he distributed prizes to the winners. The principal of the college Dr.T.JEYACHANDRAN felicitated the programme. Vote of the thanks proposed by II B.SC A.BalaNaveena(club member). Students, HOD, Staff members were present during the function.
